The pressures of modern life unfortunately means that the incidence of people suffering from Depression and Anxiety has dramatically increased. Most people probably now know of at least one person who has suffered from these ailments, and as such there is far less stigma attached to this illness. However those who have never suffered find it difficult to understand how this illness can affect people.

There are many different symptoms of depression, some of which include lack of interest in activities and people that normally used to give pleasure, feelings of extreme apathy, difficulty in sleeping or not being able to wake up, weight gain or loss, and a drop in concentration levels. People may also just have a complete and utter lack of energy.

Anxiety can take the form of panic attacks where the heart races to the point where a person begins to feel faint. Although it can be extremely frightening it does not do any lasting damage to a person.

It can be very easy to overlook the symptoms of anxiety and depression and just to blame them on someone being moody, angry or just feeling a bit sad. It is important to be on the lookout for things that might point to someone being depressed so that they can start to receive treatment as soon as possible.

Depression and also anxiety are very treatable illnesses, and once the condition has been diagnosed by a physician then treatment can begin. The physician can plan a course of treatment with the patient so that they know exactly what is happening to them.

Treatment may consist of both drugs and therapy. While the drugs will start to relieve the symptoms of depression and make life feel more bearable for the patient, the therapy will look at the reason for the depression and will teach the patient how to deal with this so that they recover hopefully for good.

It takes time for both the drugs and the therapy to start working so it is important not to expect results immediately. Sometimes one method may not seem to work so another may be tried instead, so eventually something will be found that is effective and the patient will get better. Some drugs may initially cause side effects so another may need to be tried so that the patient gains relief from depression with minimum side effects.

Overall the treatment will take some time to be effective, and will usually take place over a period of several months over which time the patient will start to see a gradual improvement in their mood and attitude to life. The aim is obviously to achieve a complete cure, and although some people may experience several more episodes of depression and anxiety, hopefully because they will recognize the symptoms they will seek out treatment much sooner making the cure a quicker process.

Blood cleansing is usually achieved by following a special blood cleansing fast. First you need to choose an appropriate time for a fast. Blood cleansing fast requires the conservation of energy, so it is not a good idea to plan heavy work or sport events for the same week.

Some detox herbs are better for the immune system than others, and there are a number of definite considerations for any detoxification programme. Psyllium seeds can be used to promote a healthy bowel and generally help maintain its condition, helping with problems such as diarrhoea. It is also a good herb for detox due to its sponge-like absorption properties, which helps to soak the toxins from within the body.

In modern western medicine, drug and alcohol detoxification is a program of planned withdrawal which may or may not include medication to assist in withdrawal. The length of detoxification depends on the substance ingested and the methods used for detoxification.

In such cases most drugs used to suppresses withdrawal symptoms and the chronic “drug hunger” causes nausea, vomiting and constipation that are common side effects. However, most addicts are known to develop chronic physical dependence on the very drugs that have been used to treat him/her.

Chlorophyll in leafy greens builds up the blood with important nutrients, promotes regularity, and inhibits cellular damage from radiation. This makes Chlorophyll an essential part of any blood cleansing therapy. Good sources for Chlorophyll are wheatgrass, barley, and alfalfa juices.

Another detox herb often used is the root of the dandelion, which has strong cleaning properties particularly for the liver. It is also good for clearing waste from the gall bladder and works well on the kidneys when used in conjunction with other detox herbs.

To cleanse the liver and the endocrine system you can use barberry, black radish, eyebright, lobelia, milk thistle, Oregon grape, pau d’arco, wild yam, and yellow dock in combinations or independently. Oregon grape is not an option when pregnant, and lobelia should not be taken an ongoing basis.

To cleanse the mucous membranes you can use goldenseal for one week at a time. If you are allergic to ragweed use it with caution. Borage seed, ginkgo biloba, and sarsaparilla help to restore the acid/alkaline balance.
